Objective
The zine of all zines. This piece was originally a school project, reworked for a non-profit organization called Guitars4Grrrls. The goal of the school project was to create a unique, attention-grabbing direct mailer. I reworked this piece to be be handed out at my booth during the Guitars4Grrrls promotional event.
Process
Guitars4Grrrls is inspired by the riot grrrl movment. I had the charity in mind as potential “real-world” experience for me, so planning budget and what is realistic for me to achieve was essential. I had previously established a connection with the head of the charity and had engaged in her musical endeavours. I was given short notice that i would get to be a part of the event held at the London Music Hall, despite this I coordinated with other vendors attending the event and created stickers of their art to include in my piece. Fortunately, as a designer, we are used to quick turnaround so I touched up the final I handed in for school and got in contact with a print shop ASAP. The biggest struggle for this was planning the interactive “pull-n-tear”. With no access to a manufacturer, I printed half the batch without it and hand-made the other half, 60 altogether. I spent many hours on this and I’m extremely proud of it!
